It is very sensative to anything feather weight on up. I love the 'Tare' option...which means you can weigh a container before you put the food in, set the tare and only the food weight will be weighed and not the container. It is identical to the other scale (Kitrics) that costs ten dollars more here. You can add up to 99 custom entries to this scale for any commonly eaten items that may not be in the database of 999 items. I found this very easy to use and I like the fact that the auto-off feature is a couple of minutes. I had recently purchased the Weight Watchers scale that displays the POINTS values and was discouraged that its auto-off happened after 30 seconds. That barely gave me enough time to squint at the tiny screen and then write the information down. The Chefmate scale has a very easy to read display. While the scale looks like it might be metal, it isn't. I was disappointed at first however it's not enough to take away a star. My previous well-loved scale was also all plastic and it worked for many years. This scale is perfect! It weighs food in grams or ounces and has many food codes so we don't have to calculate her carbs manually! Easy to figure out. I use for Weight Watchers and couldn't be happier.
